Biographical Notes Born in Barbados, West Indies on 6 November 1929. Educated at Thomas Danby College.

Committed to improving education in the community, Odessa founded the Chapeltown Parents Association, together with other mothers in the Chapeltown area, to press the education authorities to improve their local school. She is a school governor at the Shakespeare School in Murmantofts and volunteers on the Read-It 2000 Education project.

She is a member of the Advisory Group for older women at the Civic Hall and a member of the West Indian Ladies Group. She is also the co-author of the book, 'When the ship comes in', published in 1992.

She is also a tireless fundraiser, raising funds for St.Gemma's Hospice, Wheatfields Hospices, and several churches.

Other memberships include the Mandela Centre, and the Black Elders Association.
