| Biographical Notes | Born in Bradford. Moved with her husband to Burley in 1922. An active member of the community, Rita was one of the founding members of the Burley Women's Institute. She started the Burley Players, writing several plays for them as well as directing many of their productions. She also opened a canteen in Salem Schoolroom in July 1939 for evacuees, and later schoolchildren. |
