Barbara Taylor Bradford has sold over 60 million books in over 39 languages since the publication of her first novel, “A Woman of Substance,” in 1979. Born in Leeds, Barbara was a typist for the Yorkshire Evening Post before becoming the women’s page editor for the same newspaper. In her career as a journalist, Barbara worked for Woman’s Own, London Evening News and Today magazine. Barbara moved to America following her marriage to Robert Bradford in 1963, and it was in the USA that she wrote her first book, “The Complete Encyclopaedia of Homemaking Ideas,” which sold 175,000 copies.
