Biographical Notes

In 1990 Alison was the first black woman to be elected to Leeds City Council. She chaired the Women’s Committee and was a member of the Race Committee for four years. Originally from Seacroft, Alison has been involved in women’s activism for most of her life and is passionately committed to ensuring that women are offered the resources they need to free themselves and their children from violence. Alison is chair of Leeds Inter Agency Project which works with other agencies to address the issue of male violence against women.
