Biographical Notes	First woman to become an associate of the Textile Institute. Born c1910. Educated at Nelson Technical School and Bradford Technical College. At Nelson Irene was the first woman to win the Drapers’ Company major scholarship. At Bradford Technical College she excelled in all her exams. In 1932 she became the first woman to become an associate of the Textile Institute, aged 22.
