British Tae Kwondo champion (1989). Born c1969. Angela from Bolton-on-Dearne, Rotherham took up Tae Kwondo in 1986 because she could no longer swim as the baths had been closed due to the miners’ strike. She had a two year break from the sport while she worked as a Redcoat at Butlins in Skegness. Then after six months of intensive training she became British Women’s Lightweight champion at the British Tae Kwondo Selection Games in Milton Keynes in 1989, only two weeks after getting her black belt.
